The Street Corner in Aberdeen, South Dakota, has amenities like no other! In the front of the facility is a state-of-the-art Sinclair fuel station with six pump islands and an up-scale convenience store that includes Street Corner’s new fresh, made-to-order food service. But it doesn’t stop there.
The building also hosts a sports bar and grill with casino games. When owners Toby and Elizabeth Doeden purchased the building, which had been a Max & Erma’s restaurant, they had the opportunity to purchase a neighboring hotel – one of the original Super 8 hotels – under the condition that the building could no longer operate as a hotel.
So they tore the hotel down, creating an expansive footprint, and they decided to go big. With no food or bar in a wide radius of the location despite lots of popular recreation destinations, they decided the spot should include both an up-scale convenience store and a sports bar. “And if you are going to have a sports bar, you might as well include some casino games if you can,” says Toby.
